1. Data we collect

We collect the following types of data:

• Account data: name, email address and password (stored encrypted).
• Guide content: text, images and settings you add to your guidebooks.
• Billing data: if you purchase a paid plan, it is handled by our payment provider; we do not store your full card details.
• Guest usage data: sections viewed and interactions with the guide, for the host's analytics.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type and preferred language.

2. How we use the data

We use the data to:

• Provide, maintain and improve the service.
• Show hosts usage analytics for their guides.
• Send service-related communications (notices, changes, security).
• Keep the platform secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal basis

We process your data on the following bases: performance of the service contract with you, our legitimate interest in improving and protecting the platform, your consent where applicable, and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with providers necessary to operate the service: infrastructure and hosting, and payment processing. These providers process data under our instructions. We may also disclose data to authorities when required by law.

5. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete it, we will erase or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, unless we are legally required to keep it longer.

6. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures: encrypted communications, securely hashed passwords and access controls. Even so, no system is completely secure; we recommend using a unique, strong password.

7. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability at any time by writing to soporte@hostcompass.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.

8. Guest data

Guests do not need an account to view a guide. Usage statistics are collected in aggregate for the host.

9. Minors

The service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us to have it removed.

10. Changes to this policy

We will publish any changes on this page, updating the date shown at the top. If a change is significant, we will notify you through a prominent channel.
